Google Assistant: How to wake up to a song?
If you own a Google Home, a Google Home Max or another smart speaker. Google Assistant has some new tricks to show you. By themselves none of them will blow your mind. But collectively they show how Google is continually improving the capabilities of Google Home and the Assistant.
The Google Assistant has received two new actions that can be used by anyone with an enabled smart speaker. This adds to the range of actions the Assistant already offers, including using Home as a doorbell, turning on the lights and streaming your favorite music.
Google Home, get two new actions with Google Assistant
The first new action lets you wake up to a particular song. Traditional alarm clocks that use loud bells or annoying melodies can wake you up if you want. But now you can set an alarm that plays a specific song, playlist or radio station. Which should help you start your day right.
All you need to do is say, "Hey Google, set an alarm to go off at 6am [ e insertas a tu artista favorito]». Then, at 6am, your Google Home (or other Assistant-enabled smart speaker) will come to life playing the song you requested.
The second new action means you'll never miss an episode of your favorite TV show again. Which is hard enough thanks to recovery and on-demand services. The Google Home assistant gives you another option.
As suggested by Google, you can now say "Hey Google, what channel is The Flash on." Or "Hey Google, when is The Flash going to air?" To make sure you never miss an episode. You can also set a reminder so you don't forget to watch your favorite series.
The competition to control your home
There are now three companies fighting to control your homes through their smart speakers and personal assistants. With Amazon, Apple and Google wanting to be welcomed into your home, they have to keep adding new skills, commands, actions and features if they are to win this battle for the truly smart home.
