How to reinstall Store and other pre-installed apps in Windows 10

Maybe you want to reinstall the Windows Store app to fix your problems, or maybe you want to reinstall all the apps that came with Windows 10. Or maybe you accidentally uninstalled the Store app or any other app and now you want to reset the same, but it's not Like this. sure how to do it.

Reinstall the Store app via Settings

This method can only be done on Windows 10 1803 and later.

Step 1: navigate to App settings > App > Application and functions.

Step 2: Find the file Microsoft Store item and click on it to display the Advanced Options link. Click on Advanced options link.


Step 3: In the Reset section, click Restart button. As you can see from the screenshot, the description clearly says that restarting the app will reinstall the app. Click on Restart when the confirmation dialog appears to complete the reinstallation.

Method 2 of 4

Reinstall individual apps via PowerShell

Step 1: Open PowerShell with administrator rights. To do this, type Windows PowerShell in the search box to see PowerShell in the results, right-click PowerShell, then click the Run as administrator option.

Step 2: At the PowerShell prompt, type the following command and press the Enter key.

Get-Appx package: all users

Step 3: Scroll down, find the App Store entry and copy the package name. If you want to reinstall another app, find its entry and copy its PackageFullName.

Tip: After selecting PackageFullName, use Ctrl + C to copy. You won't be able to right click and copy.

Step 4: Finally, run the following command:

Add-AppxPackage -register “C: Program Files Windows Apps “–DisableDevelopmentMode

In the above command, replace PackageFullName with the package name from the Windows Store or whatever app you copied in step 3 and replace "C" with the drive letter where Windows 10 is installed. Good luck!

Method 3 of 4

Reinstall all apps at once via PowerShell

Note that the following command reinstall not only the Store app but all default apps as well shipped with Windows 10. Therefore, when you reinstall all apps, you may lose the data stored in the apps and may need to set up these apps again.

NOTE: Although the command reinstalls most native apps, the command may not reinstall some apps like Cortana and Edge.

Step 1: Open Windows PowerShell with administrator rights. The easiest way to start PowerShell as an administrator is to type PowerShell in the search box and then press the Ctrl + Shift + Enter keys at the same time.

Alternatively, type PowerShell in the search box, right-click the PowerShell entry in the result, and then click Run as administrator.

Step 2: Close any running applications, if any.

Step 3: In PowerShell, copy and paste the following command, then press Enter to run it.

Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$ ($ _. InstallLocation) AppXManifest.xml"}

This may take some time and you may see some errors. Ignore all errors and wait for the command to complete its work.

Step 4: When done, open the Start menu and find the app you want to reinstall. I should be there.

And if you run into problems with the apps installed from the Store, use the official troubleshooter to troubleshoot the Store apps.

Method 4 of 4

The last resort: create a new user account

In some cases, the above methods may fail to reinstall or restore one or more pre-installed apps. If these methods fail and you can't live without your favorite app like Store, the best way to get the app back in shape or get it back is to create a new user account. Yes, a new user account will have all apps including the Store app.

To create a new user account, open the Accounts section of the Settings app, click Family & other users, click Add someone else to this PC, then follow the simple onscreen instructions to create a new user account. Once the new account is ready, you can move the existing data from your old account to the new one.
