Having been available for nearly two months, millions of PC users have already upgraded to Office 2016. Although Office 2016 is a minor upgrade to Office 2013, many users have switched to Office 2016 and now want to return to Office 2013 for a variety of purpose of reasons.

Go from Office 2016 to 2013

Starting from the beginning. Downgrading from Office 2016 to Office 2013 is only possible if you have an active subscription in Office 365. This downgrade option is also useful for users who have recently purchased an Office 365 subscription (which now installs Office 2016 by default default), but you prefer to install Office 2013 instead of Office 2016.

To switch from Office 2016 to 2013, you must first deactivate your existing Office 2016 installation, uninstall it from your PC, download a new copy of Office 2013 from Microsoft, and then install Office 2013 on your PC.

Step 1: Log into your Office account and disable the installation. Since we have already posted a detailed guide, please refer to our How to Disable Office 365/2016 Installation Guide for detailed instructions.


Step 2: Once Office 2016 is disabled, uninstall it from your PC. To do this, type Programs and Features in the Start menu search box and press the Enter key. Right-click the Office 2016 entry, click the Uninstall option, and then follow the on-screen instructions to completely uninstall Office 2016.

After removing Office 2016, restart your PC once.

Step 3: Go back to your Office account, click To install to open the Installation Information page, then click Language and installation options link (see screenshot below).

Step 4: On the language and installation options page, click the link called Additional installation options to open the same.

Step 5: Here, in the 32 and 64-bit versions of the Office section, click on the drop-down box next to Version (see image below), select Office 2013 (32-bit) Office 2013 (64-bit), then click To install to download the Office 2013 web configuration.

And if you prefer to download the offline installer, click the Download offline installer link instead of the Install button.

Step 6: Run the installer on your PC to download and install Office 2013 on your PC. Once installed, launch one of the Office 2013 applications and log in with your email address, which you used to sign up for Office 365 to activate the Office 2013 installation.
