Windows 10 includes just over a dozen universal apps (also known as Metro or Modern apps). Calculator, Calendar, Mail, Camera, Cortana, Contact Support, Movies and TV, Get Help, Groove Music, Maps, News, OneNote, People, Photos, Connect, and Your Phone are some of the apps that come with Windows 10.

While it is true that most of these applications were part of the previous version of Windows and weren't impressive, all of these applications have been updated with better user interface and functionality. Some of these apps like Mail, Calendar, Calculator and Voice Recorder are really useful but not all users will use these default apps.

That said, uninstalling these default apps isn't a good idea, especially if you're hoping to free up some disk space. Some of these apps are smaller than 1MB; in fact, uninstalling all of these apps will likely free up around 100MB of disk space.

Also, the Control Panel or Settings app doesn't allow you to uninstall many of these apps. You'll need to run a command in the PowerShell window to uninstall an app or use a third-party uninstaller like CCleaner to easily remove the default apps.

As is the case with traditional Windows programs like Paint and Notepad, Windows 10 does not allow you to uninstall or remove these default apps with the default settings. The Apps and Features section of the Settings app does not show the Uninstall option when clicking on a default app.
