How to enable backup on android

Before you start restoring data to your new mobile device. We need to make sure that the backup service is running on the current mobile.

We have to clarify that the design of the menu can vary a lot depending on the version of Android and the device in question. Any device running Nougat or later should have an option for "Backup and restore”. Either way, you can use the search box and type "Backup".

For this we will have to open Settings from the quick settings screen or from the application drawer. Then we scroll down until we find the "System" option.

Let's create a backup of our Android applications and settings

Here we will choose "Backup" and we will have to make sure that "Backup to Google Drive" is activated. From here we can see what data is being saved.

Once we make sure the backups android is enabled and the data we want is saved. When we change devices, adding the same Gmail account, the data we saved in the Drive account will be restored to the new device.

How to restore apps and settings to a new android phone

After making sure we have our backups saved in Drive, we can restore apps and settings to our new Android phone during the initial setup.

Let's start setting up Android.

On the welcome screen of our new device we will press "Start" and then click on "Copy your data" to access the option of restoration. We will obviously have to be connected to a Wi-Fi network to be able to carry out the process.

We accept the terms of Google.

It will ask us to sign in to the Google account if we haven't already. Obviously it must be the same account that we had configured on the previous device. We agree to the Google Terms of Service to proceed further.

In this way we can restore applications and settings to a new Android device

We will now be on a screen where we can see all the recovery options available. We will have to select a backup of our Android phone. Then we will choose the backup from the cloud.

We will see a list of backup options, in this case we can choose what we want to restore or directly restore everything. When we are ready, click on "Restore".

Then we will click on "Applications" to choose which of the apps we will install again on this device.

We can now continue with the configuration without any problem, all data will be restored in the background. This process may take some time depending on the amount of data that needs to be restored, do not turn off Wi-Fi for any reason.
