You need to make a backup of your Fortnite folder

First of all, you will need to create a backup for the Fortnite folder. The game is installed in the following path: C:Program FilesEpic GamesFortnite. It does this by default, so of course you'll find it there. You should access that folder in a File Explorer window on your PC.

Now you need to right-click on the "Fortnite" folder, then select "Copy" to have it in your clipboard.

Now you need to paste the copy of the Fortnite folder to another location. For example, if you're moving the folder from drive C: to drive D:, you'll need to paste the folder onto drive D:

If you plan to move Fortnite from one PC to another, you need to paste the Fortnite folder onto the external USB drive.

Now, you shouldn't immediately copy the Fortnite folder to the location you want. For example, if you plan to install Fortnite to the location: D:Epic GamesFortnite, don't copy the folder there. Therefore, you can copy to the following path: D:TemporaryFortnite.

Now you just have to wait for the process to finish copying files so you can continue.

Uninstall Fortnite

On the other hand, and already when the file copy of Fortnite is securely stored in another location. You need to proceed with uninstalling Fortnite from its original location.

Now, this step is only necessary if you want to uninstall Fortnite from your current location. That is, if you want to move Fortnite to another computer. Now, if you just want to copy the Fortnite installation files to another PC, you can skip this step.

Also, to uninstall Fortnite from your computer, you need to open the Epic Games Launcher application. You have to select the library in the left panel, then you have to click on the settings icon and select "Uninstall".

Now, you need to click "Uninstall" to confirm. This action will remove the Fortnite files from their original location.

The normal Fortnite installation will begin immediately after. In the Epic Games Launcher app, you need to select your library and click the "Install" button for Fortnite.

Now, if you're moving Fortnite to a new PC, you need to download and install the Epic Games Launcher. You have to log in with your user account and then you have to start installing Fortnite.

Select the desired installation location and click "Install". For example, if you want to move Fortnite to the path: D:Epic GamesFortnite, you must select this location. On the other hand, if you want to install Fortnite to the regular location on C: drive on another computer; so you should leave the default option as it is.

You should now leave an empty folder here, because if you try to point the launcher at an existing Fortnite folder, you will see an error message.

Cancel the download and close the Epic Games Launcher

Epic Games Launcher will start downloading Fortnite. You need to wait for the process called "Initialization" to complete. Now, when the word "Installation" appears, you must click on the "X" under the Fortnite logo to cancel the download.

Now, in order to continue, you must close the Epic Games Launcher window by clicking on the "X" located in the upper right corner of the window.

Move your Fortnite backup to the new download location

You will see that you now have a new Fortnite folder, which is almost empty in your new download location. For example, if you started installing Fortnite in the path: D:Epic GamesFortnite, you will have a folder there.

Therefore, you need to move or copy the Fortnite backup folder to the new root folder. You should know that the contents of the folder you saved will be combined with the contents of the new Fortnite folder.

Likewise, you should know that there are files with the same name. You just need to click "Replace files in destination". Therefore, this will overwrite the incomplete download files with the files from the backup.

Restart the Epic Games Launcher and continue installing Fortnite

Now, at this point, you're almost done. You need to open the Epic Games Launcher again and click on the "Resume" option in Fortnite.

This will cause the Epic Games Launcher to scan the Fortnite directory. It will realize it already has the files and will skip the download. Likewise, the "Checking" progress bar will slowly increase. This like Epic Games Launcher verifies that all files are OK. This is not a download.

Likewise, if there is a problem, the status will change to "Downloading" and the launcher will download replacements for the corrupted, missing or obsolete files.

Similarly, Fortnite will install to the new location and be ready to play.

Finally, you can keep a backup of your Fortnite files on your external USB drive. In turn, you can use this method to quickly install Fortnite on a new PC without the need for a bulk download.
